One of the necessities in a human’s well-being is food. We cannot live long enough without food; we can survive for days but will eventually die. Some say that “food is life.” For many people, their lives revolve around food. Without food, they’ll die. And for sure, we’ll indeed die without food for many days, next to living without water.
We badly need food in our lives. Food gives us the necessary nutrients and energy to grow, develop, and actively move around and be healthy. Food enables us to do our daily routines such as travel routines, play, work, think, and learn. Food contains essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, minerals, and vitamins that provide nutritional support for organisms to maintain health.
Six Best Foods for the Brain and Strong Memory
There’s a ton of different kinds of food around the whole wide world, and here are what I have listed. Specifically, these are foods that are good for the brain and memory. I also chose those foods that one can easily find at home.
Oily Fish
Oily fish such as salmon, mackerel, trout, herring, sardines, and tuna are rich in omega-3s EPA and DHA that the brain uses to build brain and nerve cells and making them essential for learning and memory. The brain is the body’s fattiest organ, and it has about 60% of fat, and half of that fat is the omega-3 kind.
Coffee
Coffee has two main components such as caffeine and antioxidants. It increases your alertness, improves your mood, and sharpens your concentration.
Oats
Whole-grain oats are a great source of glucose that the brain relies on for fuel and healthy carbs. With its fiber content, the oats broke down slowly on our bodies. It also contains vitamin B, iron, and magnesium.
Dark Chocolate
Dark chocolate and cocoa powder contain flavonoids, caffeine, and antioxidants that are compounds in brain-boosting. According to the study, dark chocolate increases cognitive function, lowers the risk of dementia, and produces better memory task results.
Eggs
Eggs are a rich source of several B vitamins and choline. These vitamins facilitate proper brain functioning and development, as well as regulating mood. Eggs are ubiquitous nowadays and have become a staple food for many households.
Nuts
Nuts consist of several nutrients that include healthy fats, antioxidants, and vitamin E. The latter has been known to give brain-health benefits. Studies have shown that eating nuts can boost indicators of heart health, and having a healthy heart is related to having a healthy brain.
Brain Food is Relevant to Students
Students are only human beings, and they depend on food. Certain foods are excellent for the brain, and I have enumerated in the preceding sections, particularly those that provide strong memory. These foods give them confidence, knowing that what they eat helps and improves their brain health.
Some teenagers are mindful of what they eat for their reasons, and knowing that these foods are good for their brain, they will be encouraged to take them. They train, develop, and enhance their minds at school or even outside the school. They are growing, and food does play a role in that.
Food does not only help with physical growth but also mentally. Likewise, some foods give students an emotional boost. For some, foods do make them happy. It comforts them. And being knowledgeable about that, consuming foods with lots of benefits makes us want to eat them more.
Aside from the benefits that I have enumerated, these foods are stocked and easily found at home.
I might have missed some other foods that you may have in your homes. See the following video to find out if you have them.
